New applications cause a small temporary dip of about 5 to 10 points. But adding new credit lines actually improves your score long term by lowering your utilization ratio. Most members see their scores increase over 12 months.
We recommend a score of 700+. The higher your score, the more cards and bonuses you qualify for. If you're between 680 and 700, we can still work together. We'll just adjust the strategy to build your score while earning points.
Most signup bonuses require you to spend a certain amount in the first 3 months, usually $3,000 to $6,000 per card. We're not asking you to spend more than you normally would. The strategy is to shift your everyday spending, things like groceries, gas, bills, dining, and subscriptions, onto the new card. Most people already spend enough to hit these thresholds without changing their habits.
Most members earn their first 100,000+ points within 90 days of starting. After your first round of applications, you'll see points hitting your accounts within 1 to 2 statement cycles.
